Blood test allergy and intolerance
An allergy and an intolerance are sometimes thought of as the same thing. Yet there are differences. With an allergy, you cannot tolerate certain substances and the immune system kicks in. Your body will then produce antibodies. A peanut allergy is a well-known example of this. With intolerance, your body cannot digest certain foods or components. This causes gastrointestinal problems. In this case, no antibodies are produced. The most common forms of intolerance are lactose intolerance and gluten intolerance.
Do you suspect that you suffer from an allergy? Then you can prove it with a blood test. Because an intolerance does not produce antibodies, it is not possible to prove it through a blood test!
We cannot perform tests for intolerances!

How does a blood test show that you have an allergy?
If you have certain unexplained symptoms or acute symptoms when eating certain foods, you may have an allergy or intolerance. An allergy can cause many different symptoms, from itching and rashes to inability to breathe. An intolerance mainly causes gastrointestinal symptoms, because you are bothered by food that is not or not properly digested. With a blood test, the blood is tested for certain values. This shows whether you indeed have an allergy. Make an appointment with OneDayClinic for such a blood test and you will soon have the results.
