The Intake
Denk je erover om met PrEP te starten voor HIV preventie? Dan kun je bij OneDayClinic een vrijblijvend intake-consult inplannen met een van onze deskundige artsen of verpleegkundigen. Dit gesprek biedt essentiële informatie over PrEP en is cruciaal om te bepalen of PrEP geschikt is voor jou. Je krijgt de kans om al je vragen over PrEP te stellen. Bij besluit om met PrEP te beginnen volgen er diverse SOA-testen en een nierfunctiecontrole, waarna je, bij positieve uitslagen, een recept ontvangt. Het intakegesprek duurt circa 30 minuten.

About PrEP
PrEP, in full Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, is an effective method of preventing HIV infections and consists of two HIV inhibitors: emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil. It is important to note that PrEP does not protect against other STIs and requires a specific intake schedule.
Target groups for PrEP:
- Men who have sex with men
- Trans men and women who have sex with men
- Persons for whom sex is work
- Partners of persons in the above groups
How is PrEP used
- You can use PrEP in two ways: taking one pill every day or only around the times you have sex. Together with the doctor, you will see which way is best for you, depending on what your sex life is like.
- When you use PrEP, you should see your doctor regularly for checkups. During these checkups, they will discuss how you are doing with taking the pills and whether you are experiencing any side effects. Tests are also done to check how your kidneys are working, if you have HIV and if you have any other STDs.
- It is your responsibility to make monitoring appointments (see schedule below).

- PrEP through OneDayClinic
- The tablets and consultation at the OneDayClinic are not covered by the deductible, but the check-up appointments required for PrEP care are covered by some health insurers. Check with your health insurer to see if they will reimburse for PrEP care at ODC. Your primary care physician can then refer you to us.
Cost and Reimbursement
PrEP mediation and the initial consultation at OneDayClinic are outside the deductible. Check with your health insurer about reimbursements. Medication costs are at your own expense, with prices varying by provider.
Anonymous Care and Preparation for Conversation.
Anonymous PrEP care is possible, but inform your doctor about your PrEP use because of possible interactions with other medications. Prepare for the intake interview by not having unprotected sex two weeks before the appointment and by bringing the necessary documents.
