The HIV self-tests are quick and easy to use.
Bij het testen op HIV is altijd een bloedtest nodig. Zo ook bij de HIV zelftesten. Gelukkig gaat dit maar om één enkele druppel bloed, die direct in de test wordt verwerkt. Na ongeveer 15 minuten geeft de HIV test door middel van streepjes weer of de uitslag positief of negatief is. Belangrijk is dat je wel let op de windowfase. Dit is de tijd die zit tussen het moment van het onveilige contact en het moment waarop de test kan aantonen dat je eventueel besmet bent. Voor HIV moet je uitgaan van een Windowfase van 3 maanden. Test je negatief, dan is er niets aan de hand, maar het advies is wel om na enkele maanden nogmaals te testen. Test je positief? Dan moet je nogmaals een test laten doen voor een definitieve bevestiging.
